West Virginia Public Theatre Holds Opening Night for Summer Season

Friday evening was the opening night for West Virginia Public Theatre's Summer Season.

They kicked it off with a performance of "A Funny Thing Happened on the way to the Forum."

The West Virginia Public Theater now has a new partnership with WVU and the College of Creative Arts. This will bring about a few new aspects, including a non musical which will be Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, which opens July 8th.

The whole cast and crew had a lot of excitement for the opening night.

"In a room with a bunch of actors and a director, and stage managers, it's rehearsal. So until there's an audience there, it's not theater yet. So now, it's theater, when the audience shows up tonight. So it's very exciting. The energy. You get an energy from the audience. They get excited. It helps you as the actors on stage get helped by that energy coming at you and vice versa, so it all kind of feeds off each other," said Lee Blair, Co-Artistic Director of the West Virginia Public Theatre.
