STORMING HEAVEN: THE MUSICAL
June 6 - 9, and 11 - 15 at 7:30 pm | June 8, 9, and 16 at 2 pm.
Set against the backdrop of the 1920’s coal wars of West Virginia, “STORMING HEAVEN: THE MUSICAL” is about Carrie Bishop, a mine nurse, who finds herself in a love triangle with her husband - the mine preacher - and a Union organizer. Carrie discovers her power, in a world where women, minorities, and immigrants are second-class citizens, as she fights to improve the quality of life for the miners. These disenfranchised workers, upon whose backs this country and America’s industry were built, fight for their basic human rights by attempting to form a union. Their struggle culminates in the Battle of Blair Mountain between striking miners and mine owners, when President Warren G. Harding sends in the National Guard to kill the Union’s efforts. It is the largest civil insurrection in U.S. history since the Civil War, and that lost battle successfully stops the United Mine Workers from fully forming for another three decades.

Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python, a few secret agents (and double agents), handcuffs, ham sandwiches, and some good old-fashioned romance, and you have an unforgettable night at the theatre!
